The NTC Brasil offers you an excellent solution to reduce the fissures caused by shrinking and settlement: the polypropylene macrofiber.
The structural macrofiber should be used because it overcomes the metalic mesh in cost and practical issues. It provides ductility to the concrete, increasing the impact and the fatigue resistances and provides a better control of fissures (secondaries and from temperature). It is anticorrosive, non-magnetic, and is 100% resistant against concrete alkali-aggregates, presenting itself as an excellent choice to replace the steel fibers and welded wire fabrics.

Characteristics
The macrofibers are added to the concrete in the mixture step (while the aggregates are solid), it takes only the release of the fibers at the truck or the concrete mixer. The ratio shall be specified by the engineer/draughtsman. After the macrofibers addition, is recommended to activate the maximum rotation power and wait for the homogenization of the mixture, then it will be able to the work release. (Minimum time: 1 minute per cubic meter)
